Laura Althouse loves writing and reading and jokes that as an attorney she gets to write for a living, along with plenty of arguing, of course. When she's not at the office, Laura enjoys participating in poetry workshops, taking pictures and hiking in the Gorge. Laura also relishes travel. She lived abroad in Madrid, Spain for a year teaching English in 2000-2001, where she fell in love with the richly diverse culture of that country. Laura was born in the city of San Francisco, but she is a "double duck," having attended both undergrad and law school at the University of Oregon
- Laura joined Bodyfelt Mount LLP as an associate in 2011. From 2007-2011, Laura practiced civil litigation at another Portland law firm. Laura specializes in insurance coverage and appeals. She has argued cases in the Washington and Oregon appellate courts. Laura also has experience with construction defect, employment discrimination, personal injury, intellectual property and general commercial business litigation.

In addition to enjoying civil litigation, Laura has always been passionate about legal advocacy for children. She provides pro bono representation to children involved in high conflict custody cases through Multnomah County's Children's Representation Project. In 2008, she published an article analyzing legal mechanisms for recognizing multiple parents in the Hastings Women's Law Journal. While in law school, Laura served as an Oregon Child Advocacy Fellow. In this role, she educated professionals working with children on legal issues including issues effecting juveniles aging out of foster care and other state programs and drafted amicus briefs for litigation involving juvenile rights.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Laura was a Team Manager at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program, which trains participants to complete athletic endurance events in exchange for fundraising to cure blood-related cancers. In this role, Laura assisted her teams in breaking fundraising records, culminating in over $1 million raised for cancer research and education in the span of a year.
